Terms & Conditions

The terms that govern your use of Blingl and your relationship with us when using the app or website.

Last updated 9 May 2026 · v1.0

1. About these Terms

Welcome to Blingl, a dating app for gay men in the United Kingdom.

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) form a legal agreement between you and us. They explain what you can expect from us and what we expect from you when you use the Blingl iOS app or our website at www.blingl.com (together, the “Service”).

By creating a Blingl account or otherwise using the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service.

These Terms work alongside our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, which together describe how we handle your information. We may also publish Community Guidelines, a Safety Policy, and similar documents from time to time, which form part of these Terms.

We recommend saving a copy of these Terms for your records.

2. Who we are and how to contact us

Blingl is operated by Pasquale Somma, an individual trading as “Blingl”, based in the United Kingdom.

You can reach us at hello@blingl.com or via blingl.com/support.

3. Eligibility and age requirement

The Service is for adults only. You must be aged 18 or over to create a Blingl account or use the Service.

By using Blingl you confirm that:

  • You are at least 18 years old.
  • You have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract.
  • You are not barred from using a dating service under any law that applies to you.
  • You haven’t previously had a Blingl account terminated for breaching these Terms, unless we’ve agreed in writing that you can return.

Age assurance. Because Blingl is restricted to adults, we may ask you to confirm your age and may introduce age-assurance checks in the future. If we believe you are under 18, or if you fail or refuse a required age check, we may suspend or terminate your account.

If you believe someone under 18 is using Blingl, please report them in the app or email us at hello@blingl.com.

4. Your account

One person, one account. You may create only one Blingl account. You may not buy, sell, rent, lease, or transfer your account.

Accurate information. You agree to provide accurate information and keep it up to date. Don’t impersonate anyone, use someone else’s photos as if they were yours, or misrepresent your age or identity.

Account security. You’re responsible for keeping your login details secure. Tell us straight away at hello@blingl.com if you think someone else has accessed your account.

Login methods. You may be able to sign in using Apple, Google, or another supported provider. We don’t receive your Apple or Google password.

5. Safety, your interactions, and no background checks

Blingl is an online service. We help you find and chat with other users, but we don’t guarantee that you’ll match with anyone, that any match will reply, or that any user is who they say they are.

We don’t conduct criminal background checks. We don’t currently verify users’ identities, conduct background screenings, or check criminal records. We may introduce additional verification or safety checks in future.

Be sensible offline. Use good judgement when meeting anyone you’ve connected with through Blingl. Meet in public the first time, tell a friend where you’re going, share your location if you can, and trust your instincts.

Location-based features. Some features, such as Nearby, use your approximate location to show profiles around you. You can turn location off in your device settings, but location-based features may stop working.

Reporting. If another user violates these Terms, makes you feel unsafe, or you encounter content that breaks our rules, please report them in the app or email hello@blingl.com.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Harass, threaten, abuse, stalk, dox, out, or impersonate anyone.
  • Use the Service for anything illegal under UK law.
  • Post, send, or share content that is hateful, discriminatory, violent, defamatory, or harassing.
  • Post sexually explicit content outside of clearly opt-in spaces, or send unsolicited explicit images.
  • Engage in or facilitate sexual activity involving anyone under 18, or share sexual content involving anyone under 18. This is illegal and we will report it to the authorities.
  • Solicit money, gifts, cryptocurrency, investments, or any kind of payment from other users.
  • Run scams, romance fraud, catfishing, phishing, or any pattern of deception.
  • Use bots, scrapers, auto-likers, automation tools, or any technical means to interact with the Service other than the app itself.
  • Resell access to Blingl, advertise other services, or use the Service for commercial purposes.
  • Bypass safety features, moderation tools, age checks, rate limits, or any other technical or policy measure.
  • Use, copy, store, or distribute another user’s photos, messages, location, or personal information outside Blingl without their consent.
  • Use the Service, or content from the Service, to train or develop machine-learning or artificial-intelligence systems.
  • Probe, scan, or test the security of the Service, or attempt to access accounts, data, or systems you’re not authorised to access.
  • Upload viruses, malware, or code intended to disrupt, damage, or interfere with the Service.

If you break the rules, we may remove content, restrict features, suspend your account, terminate it, or refuse future access. In serious cases, we may report you to the police or other authorities.

7. Content moderation

We may review profile content, photos, messages, reports, and other material using human review and automated tools to detect content that breaches these Terms, our rules, or the law.

If content breaches the rules, we may remove or restrict it, restrict features, suspend or terminate accounts, and report illegal content where required.

If you believe we’ve made a mistake, contact us at hello@blingl.com and we’ll review the decision.

We’re not obliged to monitor everything and we don’t promise to find or remove every breach. Please report anything you think we should review.

8. Free service, ads, and future paid features

Blingl is currently intended to offer a free core experience.

Advertising measurement on the website. Our website uses advertising-measurement tools to understand which of our ads bring people to Blingl. These tools only load if you accept marketing cookies in our cookie banner, and we use them solely to measure ad performance, not to show ads inside the Service. For details of who we work with and what data is involved, see our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.

In-app ads and monetisation. We may introduce optional rewarded ads, standard ads, paid features, subscriptions, or in-app purchases in the future. If we do, we’ll explain the relevant terms clearly at the point of use or purchase.

Future ad providers. If we introduce in-app ads later, we may use providers such as Google AdMob. We will update these Terms and our Privacy Policy before or when those features go live.

9. Paid features and subscriptions

This section applies only if we introduce paid features, subscriptions, or in-app purchases.

  • Prices will be shown clearly at the point of purchase.
  • Payments on the iOS app will usually be processed by Apple through the App Store.
  • Subscriptions may auto-renew unless cancelled through your Apple ID subscription settings.
  • Deleting the Blingl app from your device does not cancel a subscription.

Consumer rights. Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer, including under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 in the UK.

If paid features are introduced, we will provide any cancellation, renewal, and refund information required by law at the point of purchase.

10. Intellectual property

Blingl, the Blingl name, the sparkle mark, the app design, the website, the software, and related branding belong to us or our licensors.

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for personal, non-commercial use.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, sublicense, scrape, frame, mirror, reverse-engineer, decompile, or create derivative works from any part of the Service, except where the law explicitly allows it.

If you send us suggestions or feedback, you agree that we can use them freely without owing you anything.

11. Your content

The photos, bio, profile information, messages, and other content you create or upload to the Service remain yours.

By uploading content, you confirm that you own it or have permission to use it, and that it doesn’t breach these Terms or the law.

You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, display, transmit, adapt, moderate, and use your content as needed to operate, provide, secure, and improve the Service.

We will not sell your content to data brokers or use your photos, profile data, or messages to train AI models offered to third parties.

This licence ends when you delete the content or close your account, except where we need to keep limited copies for safety, moderation, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, legal compliance, or backups.

Other users’ photos, messages, and profile information belong to them. Don’t copy, share, post, or distribute another user’s content without their explicit consent.

12. Third-party services and links

The Service may rely on third parties, including Apple, Google, Supabase, PostHog, Cloudflare R2, Resend, and Vercel. Their use of information is described in our Privacy Policy.

The Service may link to third-party websites, services, or apps that we don’t control. We’re not responsible for their content or practices.

13. Changes to the Service

Blingl is a young product and we’ll keep changing it. We may add, change, restrict, or remove features at any time.

Where changes are significant and affect you, we’ll give reasonable notice unless we need to act immediately for legal, safety, or security reasons.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time.

If we make material changes, we’ll surface them in the app or by email before they take effect where appropriate.

By continuing to use Blingl after changes take effect, you accept the updated Terms. If you don’t agree, please stop using the Service and delete your account.

The latest version is available at blingl.com/terms.

15. Suspension and termination

You can delete your account from inside the app, or by emailing hello@blingl.com. Removing the app from your device does not delete your account.

We may suspend or terminate your account, or restrict features, if:

  • You breach these Terms, our rules, or applicable law.
  • You provide false or misleading information.
  • Other users report you and our review confirms a serious or repeated breach.
  • We’re required to do so by law or court order.
  • Continuing to provide the Service to you would put users, us, or others at risk.
  • Your account has been inactive for a long period and we’ve given you notice.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination, such as intellectual property, content licences, liability, and governing law, continue to apply after your account ends.

16. Disclaimers

The Service is provided as is. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we don’t promise that:

  • The Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or always available.
  • Any specific person will use Blingl, match with you, reply to you, or meet you.
  • Any match or meeting will result in a relationship, friendship, or specific outcome.
  • Information provided by other users is accurate or truthful.

Other users are not under our control. You interact with other users at your own risk.

17. Our liability to you

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any liability that cannot legally be limited or excluded.

Subject to that, we’re not liable for:

  • Losses caused by other users.
  • Losses caused by your decision to meet or interact with another user.
  • Losses that were not reasonably foreseeable.
  • Losses caused by events outside our reasonable control.
  • Business, commercial, or professional losses, since the Service is for personal use.
  • Indirect or consequential losses.

Subject to the first paragraph of this section, our total liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to the greater of: the amount you paid us in that period, or £100.

18. Your liability to us

To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify us for claims, damages, costs, and reasonable legal fees caused by:

  • Your breach of these Terms, our rules, or applicable law.
  • Your use of the Service in a way that harms another user or third party.
  • Content you upload that breaches these Terms or infringes someone else’s rights.

This does not apply to claims caused by our own fault or breach.

19. Events outside our control

We won’t be liable for failure or delay caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as internet outages, third-party service outages, power failures, natural disasters, pandemics, acts of government, or acts of war.

20. App Store terms

If you download Blingl from the Apple App Store, you acknowledge that:

  • These Terms are between you and us, not Apple.
  • Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.
  • Your licence is limited to use on Apple-branded devices you own or control.
  • Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

21. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.

If you have a problem, contact us first at hello@blingl.com.

The courts of England and Wales have non-exclusive jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.

Nothing in this section affects your right as a consumer to rely on mandatory laws in the country where you live.

22. Other things you should know

If part of these Terms is not enforceable, the rest still applies.

If we don’t enforce a right straight away, that doesn’t mean we’ve given it up.

You can’t transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without our agreement. We may transfer ours if Blingl is acquired, restructured, or operated through a company in the future.

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, and any rules we publish, make up the whole agreement between you and us.

Apart from Apple under the App Store section, no third party has the right to enforce these Terms.
