Cookie Policy

Which cookies and similar technologies we use, why we use them, and how you can control them.

Last updated 9 May 2026 · v1.0

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They’re used widely to make sites work, or work more efficiently, and to provide information to the site owners. We also use similar technologies like browser local storage, which work in much the same way.

This Cookie Policy explains how Blingl uses cookies and similar technologies on www.blingl.com. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.

2. Why we use cookies

We keep things simple. We use cookies and local storage for three reasons:

  • To make the site work — we need to remember whether you’ve responded to our cookie banner, so we remember your choice and don’t ask you again on every page.
  • To understand how the site is used — if you give consent, we use analytics to see which pages are popular, how people find us, and where the experience could be better.
  • To measure our ads — if you give consent for marketing cookies, we measure which ads on Meta and TikTok bring people to Blingl, so we can spend less on ads and more on building the app.

You can change your choice at any time via “Cookie preferences” in the footer.

3. The cookies and storage we use

Strictly necessary. These are needed for the site to work and can’t be turned off. They’re only set in response to actions you take, like saving your cookie preferences.

  • blingl_cookie_consent_v1 — Provider: Blingl. Storage: local storage in your browser (not a traditional cookie). Purpose: remembers whether you accepted, rejected, or customised cookies, so we don’t show the banner on every visit. Duration: until you clear your browser storage or change your choice via “Cookie preferences” in the footer.

Analytics cookies. These are only set if you accept analytics in our cookie banner. They help us understand how visitors interact with the site so we can improve it. If you reject analytics, we may still receive very limited anonymous traffic information (such as total page visits) that cannot reasonably identify you.

  • ph_<project-key>_posthog — Provider: PostHog (EU-hosted, Frankfurt). Purpose: identifies your browser as a returning visitor and stitches your activity across pages and sessions. Duration: up to 1 year.
  • ph_<project-key>_posthog_window_id — Provider: PostHog. Purpose: identifies your current browser tab so we can tell separate tabs apart. Duration: until the tab is closed (session).

Advertising cookies. These are only set if you accept marketing in our cookie banner. They let us measure which ads on Meta and TikTok bring people to Blingl, so we can improve our ad spend. If you reject marketing cookies, no advertising cookies are set at all and no data is sent to Meta or TikTok.

  • _fbp — Provider: Meta Platforms Ireland Limited. Purpose: identifies your browser to Meta so we can measure which Facebook and Instagram ads led you to Blingl. Duration: 90 days.
  • _ttp — Provider: TikTok Information Technologies UK Limited. Purpose: identifies your browser to TikTok so we can measure which TikTok ads led you to Blingl. Duration: 13 months.
  • _tt_enable_cookie — Provider: TikTok. Purpose: signals to the TikTok pixel that you’ve consented to first-party cookies. Duration: 13 months.

4. Third-party cookies and processors

We use the following third-party processors that may set cookies on the site:

  • PostHog — product analytics. Hosted in the EU (Frankfurt) at eu.i.posthog.com. We route PostHog traffic through our own domain via a proxy at /ingest so it’s a first-party cookie set by blingl.com rather than a third-party cookie set by PostHog directly. Only loads if you accept analytics cookies. See PostHog’s privacy policy.
  • Meta Platforms Ireland Limited — advertising measurement (Meta Pixel). Used to measure which Facebook and Instagram ads bring people to Blingl. Data is transferred to Meta in the EU and the US under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses. Only loads if you accept marketing cookies. See Meta’s privacy policy.
  • TikTok Information Technologies UK Limited — advertising measurement (TikTok Pixel). Used to measure which TikTok ads bring people to Blingl. Data is transferred to TikTok in Ireland, the US, and Singapore under the UK International Data Transfer Addendum and Standard Contractual Clauses. Only loads if you accept marketing cookies. See TikTok’s privacy policy.

We don’t embed third-party social media widgets or video players on this site.

5. Managing cookies

You’re in control. You can change your cookie choices at any time:

  • Through our cookie banner — when you first visit, you can accept, reject, or customise. To change your choice later, click “Cookie preferences” in the footer.
  • Through your browser — most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies. See your browser’s help pages for details (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge).

If you reject analytics or marketing, the site still works exactly as it does for everyone else — you just won’t be counted in our funnel or ad measurement data.

6. Mobile app

The Blingl mobile app doesn’t use cookies in the traditional sense, but it does use similar technologies such as local storage, device identifiers, and analytics SDKs. For details on how we handle data in the app, see our Privacy Policy.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the cookies we use or for legal or operational reasons.

The updated version will be shown with a new “Last updated” date. If we make significant changes, we may surface them through the cookie banner so you can review your choices.

8. Contact us

If you have questions about our use of cookies or this Cookie Policy, email us at hello@blingl.com.
